FAQ
MARINE ENGINES
What type of Oil should I use in my marine engine?
On cruising canal vessels engine power demand is very low, other than when on rivers, pushing against the flow. If higher spec oil is used, this may afford excessive cylinder bore protection, which in extreme cases may lead to bore glazing. The engine oil used for this application should be an API CC Grade oil, which is available through the UK Dealer Network
Can I use Bio-fuels in my engine?
Use of Biofuels within the Warranty period will invalidate any claims for fuel related problems. Beyond the warranty period, we suggest that only Biofuels conforming to Standards EN 14214 / DIN51606 are used, at a maximum concentration of 5%. We are unable to confirm that emissions compliance will be maintained.
- Water check & drain periods should be more frequent. - Degradation of flexible hoses & seals may occur. - Biofuels may compromise the waxing point of the diesel fuels used in winter. - When stored for long periods there will be an increased risk of microbial growth. - Biofuels are good at lubricating fuel injection equipment, thus minimising wear.
